Step 1: Setup the Enterprise Management Database
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
EnlightenDSM has two management server daemons to manage network-wide
event dispatching and logging (through PEP) and network-wide data
storage and aggregation (through EMD). Although SysAdmin and Events
will run without these management services, EnlightenDSM's functionality
will be reduced considerably.
PLEASE NOTE that the Installation directory for the EMD must be local
to that host. EMD WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY if it is installed on an
NFS-imported partition.
This window contains the following fields and toggles:
EMD:
Use this toggle to Install or Don't Install EMD. EnlightenDSM components
need to have access to both EMD and the Programmable Events Processor
(PEP) to function properly.
Install EMD on host:
Use this field to specify where to load EMD and the Informix Engine.
The default is your local hostname. Depending on your DNS settings, you
may need to specify a fully-qualified host and domain name. At worst,
you may have to type in the IP address of the host.
EMD Install Dir:
Use this field to specify the directory that will hold EMD and the
Informix SE Engine. This directory must be a local partition. The
default is /opt/emd.
Root Passwd:
Use this field to specify the root password for the host shown in the
Install EMD on host: field.
OS Type:
Use this toggle to specify the O/S type for the EMD host machine.
Start daemons immediately after installation
Automatically restart daemons after reboot
Make sure both of these toggles are "pushed-in" (the default) or EMD
will not be available for the other EnlightenDSM components.
After specifying where the EMD server should be installed, that
hostname will be added to the main install list. That host can be
configured by selecting the entry in the main install list and clicking
the 'modify' button if additional EnlightenDSM components should be
installed on that host.
